Rabiz is a Registered
Professional Engineer in Ontario, Manitoba and a
social entrepreneur. Presently at Hydro One, earlier
with Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., Director of
Transmission at Electricity of Western Region, Saudi
Arabia, Tata Electric Companies, India. His
professional affiliations include CIGRE, IEEE, IET,
PMI, Society of Power Engineers; published papers at
conferences.
His current activities are as a Lieutenant
Governor’s Appointee to the Health Professions
Appeal and Review Board, Ministry of Health,
Government of Ontario, Canada; Member of the
Experience Requirements Committee, Professional
Engineers Ontario. For Canada-India Science &
Technology initiatives, he developed Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) between McMaster University,
York University, University of Waterloo, Canada and
IITs at Bombay, Kanpur and Madras; formalized during
Premier McGuinty’s visit to India. Member of the
working group that led to published reports
“Building Bridges – A Case Study on the Role of the
Indian Diaspora in Canada” by the Centre for the
Study of Democracy, School of Policy Studies at
Queens University, Canada; and “Institutional
Linkages: Academic/Government / Private Partnerships
(Canada India S&T Mapping Study)” – for the
Government of Canada.
He was President, VP, General Secretary, Treasurer -
IIT Alumni Canada Inc. As Program Chair of IIT-Bombay’s
Golden Jubilee Conference, New York, the team raised
$7M for advancement in technology education. An
editor of “PiTech”, a technology review magazine of
the Indian Institutes of Technology, and partnering
with MIT’s Technology Review.
Rabiz established partnership of IITAC with TRIEC
(Toronto Regional Immigrant and Employment Council),
for a well structured mentoring program for the
benefit of new immigrants in Canada. TRIEC appointed
Rabiz on their “Circle of Champions”, Leadership
Network at Maytree Foundation.
Chair, North American Regional Conference, Canada
with the theme “Knowledge and Skills Creating Values
beyond Borders”, attended by delegates from several
countries. His profile in the “Globe and Mail” and
in special supplement on Professional Engineers
Ontario, by the Globe and Mail, Canada, The Times of
India, The Financial Express, India are notable
media coverage.
Rabiz led the Burhani Professional Day program in
Toronto, 2008. Earlier Rabiz served as a Member of
Executive Committee, India Forum, Embassy of India,
Saudi Arabia, Director, “Panorama India” - Consulate
General of India, Toronto.
A recipient of “Distinguished Alumni” service Award
– IIT Bombay; The Mentoring Partnership, Toronto
awards. Biography is published in Who’s Who in the
World, in Science and Engineering, in Finance and
Industry, in America – Marquis Who’s Who
Publications; and has had several appearances in TV
interviews, Mississauga City Council, Globe and
Mail, Toronto Star, etc.
